About Me

KATHARINE HORLER OBE

I have a wealth of leadership experience – 20 years as a Chief Executive, over 30 as a senior leader – there aren’t many situations that I haven’t seen or dealt with. My leadership is characterised by strong values, integrity and a concern for people.  These strengths have often allowed me to see things others don’t see, to be creative and innovative and to find solutions collaboratively.

I’ve had to make tough decisions and do some very difficult things, but I’ve always found that if you stick to your principles, it’s possible to find solutions to knotty problems that people can accept.

 

I’m a great believer in learning as it challenges us to think differently, be courageous and accept change.

 

I started out with a history degree – which taught me so much, how to think analytically, write persuasively, present a case, look at situations from many perspectives and that I didn’t much like the Tudors!  Ultimately history is all about people and the decisions they make so it’s no surprise that my learning has a golden thread running throughout it, which is all about people.

 

I’m a qualified Careers Adviser, Executive Coach (Henley 2017 – Distinction), Accredited Mediator with a specialism in workplace mediation (Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR) 2016), a qualified MBTI Practitioner (Myers Briggs 2019) and I was awarded an OBE in 2017.
